Informing the Pleasanton Community About the Measure E Parcel Tax

No On E Signs

Similar districts do more with less funding.

Fact!

We admit making a math error in the Argument Against Measure G and we sincerely apologize for that.

We said that in 06/07, Pleasanton received "... $717 per student more... than San Ramon." We were off by $95.

The tax proponents replied that Pleasanton "receives ... $182 more per student..."  They were off by $440.

Funding numbers are often difficult to find and verify. Voters can make their own comparison using the Ed-Data website, which provides customized spreadsheets using data provided by the California Department of Education (CDE).  Expenditures and Revenues are computed "per ADA" meaning Average Daily Attendance counts.

In making local comparisons, the district most socio-economically similar to PUSD is San Ramon (SRVUSD). Both Dublin and Livermore have very different populations.  According to Ed-Data,  Pleasanton receives and spends more money on education than SRVUSD, yet student performance at the two districts is very similar.  The following summary is well documented and easily verified:

  • Pleasanton received $622 per ADA, (nearly 11%) more state funding than San Ramon
  • Pleasanton teachers were paid on average over 25% more than San Ramon teachers
  • Pleasanton spent almost 7% more per pupil than San Ramon
  • San Ramon schools met nearly 15% more API targets
  • San Ramon had 1.2% better Language Proficiency scores
  • San Ramon had 1.7% better Math Proficiency scores
